The traditional thermal insulation materials are mainly to improve the gas phase voidage and reduce the thermal conductivity and conductivity. In order to increase convective heat transfer and radiation heat transfer in the use environment, the fiber thermal insulation materials must have a thick coating; while the inorganic thermal insulation materials of profiles need to be assembled and constructed, there are many defects, such as many joints, damage to beauty, poor waterproof, short service life, etc. For this reason, people have been looking for and researching a new type of material which can greatly improve the thermal insulation and reflection performance of thermal insulation materials.
In the 1990s, NASA researchers developed a new type of space thermal insulating reflective ceramic layer (Therma-Cover) to solve the problem of heat transfer control of spacecraft. The material is composed of some tiny ceramic particles suspended in inert latex. It has high reflectivity, high emissivity, low thermal conductivity and low thermal storage coefficient. It has excellent heat insulation and reflection function. This kind of high-tech material has been widely used in the field of aerospace abroad for civil use in construction and industrial facilities, and has been exported to China for use in some large-scale industrial facilities. But the drawback is that the material's high price of $20/kg really makes many industries in China sigh and can't bear it. As a result, there has been a quiet upsurge in the research and development of new insulation materials in China, and it has taken the lead in the development of new space reflective insulation coatings with high efficiency, thin layer, heat insulation, energy saving and decorative waterproofing. The coating is made of silicone acrylic emulsion and water-borne fluorocarbon emulsion with excellent heat resistance, weatherability, corrosion resistance and water repellent properties. It is made up of hollow ceramic particles, which are known as the materials of space age. It is made up of multi coated films made of hollow ceramsite. It is highly reflective to the 400~1800nm range of visible and near infrared solar heat. Air microporous layer with very low thermal conductivity was introduced to insulate the heat transfer. In this way, the radiation heat transfer and convection heat transfer can be effectively reduced by enhancing the apparent impedance of reflected solar heat and convection transfer, thus reducing the heat balance temperature on the surface of the object. The roof temperature can be lowered by up to 20 C, and the indoor temperature can be lowered by 5-10 C. The insulation grade of the product reaches R-33.3, the heat reflection rate is 89%, and the thermal conductivity is 0.030W/m.K.
